The mission of the Pewaukee Public School District’s School Counseling Program is to maximize all students’ abilities to develop strategies that support their academic achievement, self-awareness, interpersonal skills and career awareness.
The Pewaukee Public School District School Counseling Program is based on the National Standards for School Counseling Programs and the Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model, which integrates academic, career, and personal /social development. The school counseling program reflects the progression of student development from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. It is delivered through a direct service program consisting of the following components:
Curriculum topics focus on:
Voluntary small groups (8-10 session) that students may self select are held regarding:
1) improving school organization or focus in the classroom
2) family changes that occur that interfere with the ability to concentrate in school
3) other topics as generated by the students during a voluntary sign-up
(Parents are notified of a students desire to participate and asked to give permission)
Problem Solving Sessions:
Students may sign up for conflict resolution or simple brainstorming on how to solve a problem by filling out the forms available across from her office OR send her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
REMEMBER - The goal for visiting with Mrs. Farrow is to work through a struggle and then move one. Everyone who is asked to come to a problem solving session must volunteer to do so. When requesting to meet, a student must first describe what they have already done to try to fix the situation.
JR. PIRATE TALKS = a 6th grade parent / child assignment
Jr. Pirate Talk - Did you know the data shows that parents are the most influential factor in a person's career choice? Do you know all the possible things you can do to assist your child in this endeavor?? As part of the guidance curriculum, 6th grade students and their parents will watch a presentation to get a feel for what is to come in the next 6 years!! It is a 15 minute presentation that you may watch on your own time with the link that is provided below in the links section. Students should take a survey when they have completed the assignment to verify they understood the general message. Parents are asked to watch this with their child prior to Asa Clark Orientation. The content of the Jr. Pirate Talk will NOT be similar to anything that is a part of the orientation, HOWEVER, the information will be very helpful when selecting classes for 7th grade.
